A Fixed cellular terminal / GSM Gateway can be used for cost reduction when making calls to mobile phones and many business users will connect them to their telephone system so that the low Cost Calls via the GSM Gateway can be used by all extension users. GSM Gateways and Fixed Cellular Terminals can also be used for stand alone applications such as telephone and fax for remote / site offices.

Fixed Cellular Terminal

Fixed Cellular Terminal is a term given to a GSM device that is usually fixed in one place that will enable the connection of standard telephone devices including telephones, fax machines, PC's and they can even be connected to the trunk ports of a PBX Telephone System as an alternative to telephone lines to enable calls to be routed over the GSM network.

GSM Gateway

GSM Gateway is a term usually associated with Multi SIM Fixed Cellular Terminals and especially with the 30 channel ISDN30 PRI GSM Gateways that connect to the ISDN30 trunk ports of a large ISDN Phone System. A GSM Gateway is any GSM device that connects a standard telephone device to the GSM Network, therefore acting as a Gateway between the two technologies.

Premicell

Nokia were the manufacturers of the original premicell devices including the popular Nokia 22 and Nokia 32 Fixed Cellular Terminals. Nokia stopped the manufacture of their Premicell range in 2005. Prmicell is a commonly used term for single SIM analogue fixed cellular terminals, such as the popular Telecom FM Cellroute.
